In
1861 Finnell Joined the army. He was in Co. H. 1st TX. Infantry
Regiment. In the Spring And Summer of 1861 the company traveled to
Virginia. |

On May
13, 1862 Finnell’s Company was involved in the Battle of Seven Pines. The
battle lasted till June 1st with both sides claiming victory. The
Confederates lost 7,997 men in this battle. |

|
In
February of 1863 Finnell was Detailed as a teamster. |
|
|
|
|
On
Sept. 18th – 20th 1863 Finnell’s company Was engaged
in the battle of Chickamauga. This battle was one of the 10 worst battles
of the Civil War. |

|
The
battle lasted for three days ending in a confederate victory, though they
lost nearly 18,500 men. |
|
|
|
|
Lt.
Gen. James Longstreet led the 20,000 confederate soldiers into battle. No
one knows who won this battle and there where 1,160 total men lost. |

|
|
Gen.
Robert E. Lee led Finnell’s company into battle on May 31, 1864. The battle
lasted until June 2nd, and ended in a Confederate victory. We
only lost 2,500 men in this battle. |

|
|
|
The
last battle Finnell’s company was involved in was the battle of Appomattox.
The battle began and ended on April 9, 1865. |
|
|
|
|
It is
unknown to me how many men The confederates lost in this battle, but a
total of 700 men were lost at this battle. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
After
the war Finnell returned home and took up farming, at some point he married
and raised a family. Though the exact dates of these events are unknown to
me. |
